These cookies are super fun for kids of all ages to bake and decorate!

Preheat the oven to 375 degree F / 190 degree C

¾ cup / 188 ml butter

1 cup / 250 ml white sugar

1 egg

1 tsp / 5 ml vanilla extract

2 ½ cup / 313 gr all-purpose flour

½ tsp / 2.5 ml baking powder

Pinch of salt

In a large mixing bowl, add softened butter and beat with an electric hand mixer until creamy. Add sugar and beat until well mixed. Add egg and vanilla and beat until very creamy.

In a separate medium mixing bowl whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. 

Add flour mixture a third at a time into the butter mixture and mix each third until well blended until all the flour is incorporated.

Divide dough in half, shape each half into disks, wrap each disk with cling wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out one disk to a ¼ inch / 5 mm thickness. Press a cookie cutter into dough and arrange shapes on a parchment lined baking sheet. Roll out remaining dough and use cookie cutters until all dough is used up.

Bake for 10 – 12 minutes until set. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before enjoying. Decorate as desired.
